Top sights Warsaw: Palace of Culture

Palace of culture, Warszawa

The Palace of Culture in the center of Warsaw is certainly one of the most famous landmarks in the Polish capital. The building, which is over 200 meters high, was built on Stalin's orders from 1952 to 1955 in the style of socialist classicism and is in many respects a building of superlatives. It is the highest and, with over 3200 rooms, also the largest listed building in Poland.

Although it is one of the most shaping landmarks in the city center and a popular tourist destination, its existence and value have always been the subject of controversy, not least because of gigantic maintenance and renovation costs that the Pałac Kultury i Nauki gobbles up annually.
