Historic Houses Poland: Wiązowna
The Mazowieckie Voivodeship has over 1,000 registered monuments. They are mostly well hidden in the rural communities, where industrialists and the Polish nobility built numerous estates with more or less pronounced gardens and parks.
Wiązowna is located a few kilometers east of Warsaw. In the rural community there is a palace originally built for the Lubomirski family, which received its present eclectic appearance in 1890 by the Warsaw banker Szymon Neuman. The property became nationally known in the 1930s as a filming location for Polish cinema productions.
In the post-war years, the palace was occupied by all sorts of facilities typical of such properties: Agricultural School, Training Center, Health Center, Elementary School. The architectural core of the building has essentially been preserved. The interior is dominated by an open stair hall, decorated with Ionic columns on the upper floor. It is reached by a small flight of stairs in the vestibule, the walls of which are decorated with pilasters.
The listed building has undergone several changes of ownership in recent years. It is in a critical state of construction and would need to be structurally secured (2020).
