Baroque Palace in Dornburg (Saxony-Anhalt)

Dornburg Castle on the Elbe River in Saxony-Anhalt is a baroque castle of the Principality of Anhalt-Zerbst by architect Friedrich Joachim Stengel.
Originally, the construction of a much larger palace complex was planned here, but the construction measures were interrupted with the beginning of the Seven Years' War and was therefore never completed.

Schloss Dornburg was owned by the state of Saxony-Anhalt for many years and was sold to a Berlin real estate company in 2018. In the past, it could be visited at times as part of the "Tag des offenen Denkmals".

While the facade is characterized by impressive baroque opulence, the palace character inside is not fully served due to the unfinished construction; The rooms were never manorially furnished. Only a typical baroque staircase with a forged handrail in the middle part of the building is worth seeing.
