Prestigious castle near Schweinfurt, Bavaria

The impressive castle in Germany is situated on a hill with a view of the Main River, surrounded by forest and a vineyard. The city limits of Schweinfurt are approximately 3 km away. There is a city bus connection, and the nearest highway is about a 10-minute drive. The area is rural and belongs to the large municipality of Schonungen.

The castle was first mentioned in 1245. Its current appearance, with the three stepped gables, dates back to the Middle Ages. From 1305 to 1542, it was owned by the Counts of Henneberg. Over the following years, it changed hands several times. In 1915, Ernst Sachs took over the castle, followed by his son Willy Sachs until 1954. His son, Gunther Sachs, was born in the castle. From 1954 to 1960, Wilhelm Heger was the owner, and from 1961 to 1982, it was owned by the city of Schweinfurt. In 1983, Gerhard Eichhorn acquired the castle and used it for events. Today, it is privately owned.

The castle has numerous different, highly representative event rooms. In total, there are approximately 1,480 m² available for gastronomic use.

On the first floor, there is an apartment over 400 m² with a terrace. From there, one has a very beautiful view of the Main River.

On the second floor, there is a second apartment of about 125 m², including two small balconies. Renovation is needed.

The outer bailey has potential for expansion but is in need of extensive renovation (approximately 500 m² of usable space).
