Schloss Windecken, also known as Wonnecken, is situated in the Wetterau region, 25 km northeast of Frankfurt am Main. The castle of Wonnecken was first mentioned in writing in 1262. It served as the residence of the Counts of Hanau. The present name of the town Windecken derives from the name of the castle.

During the Thirty Years' War, it was partially destroyed. After its reconstruction, it was used as a district court from the 18th century onwards. Since 1995, the castle has been privately owned.

The total area of the main building is approximately 1,480 square meters. This includes the castle cellar, currently used for gastronomic purposes, accommodating around 100 guests.

On the terrace of the pleasure garden, an additional 100 guests can be entertained outdoors.

The castle gate complex forms the entrance to the castle courtyard and the main building. It includes a large iron gate, two towers, and a battlement connected to the tower house. The gatehouse has a living space of about 210 square meters and is currently undergoing renovation.
