Villa Sola Busca, 22019 Tremezzo

Villa Sola Busca is one of the historic residences on Lake Como. It is located in Tremezzo and is situated directly in front of the Villa Carlotta. Already in the 16th century an aristocratic residence was created here, which was rebuilt and extended from the early 18th century on the orders of Duchess del Carretto. Other owners during the 18th century were the families Serbelloni, Busca and finally Cabiati, which is why the villa is also known today as Villa Sola Gabiati. The present neoclassical appearance was created during the last conversion in 1871.

The residence consists of a three-story central building and two one-and-a-half-story wings. The differently designed window arches on the various floors of the main part are striking. The top floor impresses with an additional marble balcony in front of the windows. The attic is decorated with stone vases, while a majestic tympanum with the Busca family crest reigns in the center.

The interior impresses with its extraordinary opulence, expressed in the form of elaborately decorated rooms with stucco and frescoes, as well as an impressive collection of antiques, including magnificent paintings, majolica, and valuable Chinese vases. Above the main entrance, the Serbelloni family had the words Villulae Quietem carved, which is why the nickname "La Quiete" is still common today.

Like many other representative residences of this time, Villa Sola Busca is surrounded by a typical Italian garden. Also striking are the surrounding wrought iron gates and fences, as well as the representative staircase leading to the lakeshore. The property is still owned by the descendants of the Gabiati family. Today, the mansion serves as an exclusive hotel that can also be rented in its entirety.
