Dohna-Palace in Morąg

The castle in Morąg (Mohrungen) - also called Dohna-Schlösschen - was a town residence of the von Dohna family. The building is an elongated, two- and three-story baroque palace that is surprisingly plain and undecorated on the outside. The semicircular ground plan is divided into two wings, bounded by a tower extension.

The Dohna-Schlösschen was no longer usable after the Second World War and was rebuilt rather late - the work lasted until the mid-1980s. It is now a museum dedicated to the German poet Johann Gottfried Herder and to craftsmanship in the old Prussia, in addition to changing exhibitions.

Prominent guests: former German President Richard von Weizsäcker (1990).
