Off the royal route in Warsaw: Interesting palaces that you do not know

While most of the preserved or reconstructed palaces can be found in the city center as part of the Warsaw Royal Route, it is also worth taking a look at the surrounding districts. In the northwestern district of Młociny, there is a small palace ensemble with a great name, but it is hardly visible in the summer months and little known beyond the region.

The Brühl Palace with a large park running north along the Vistula was built in the mid-18th century (1753) for Count Heinrich von Brühl, at that time minister of the Polish King August the Strong. The executing builder was court architect Johann Friedrich Knöbel. The ensemble was initially a baroque complex with two side wings arranged symmetrically to the main building. Towards the end of the 19th century, a historicizing reconstruction with influences of classicism and the French Renaissance took place, among other things, the main building received a portico with four Doric columns as well as characteristic tent roofs.

In the interwar period, the castle was a popular excursion spot, which was especially popular for boat tours. A concept that would certainly have potential again due to today's local recreation area.

After 1945, the destroyed residence was rebuilt and used as a museum for a long time. In the mid-1990s, the property was returned to descendants of the last owners. However, a long legal dispute over various building permits followed, as a result of which the castle was sold to the current owner in 2008. It is to be developed into a private residential building.
