Petershain castle in Saxony
Dorfstraße, 02906 Petershain - Hóznica
Petershain is a small village of the municipality of Quitzdorf am See in the district of Görlitz, about 6 km northwest of the small town of Niesky. At the western foothills of the village stands the New Palace of the former Knorr manor, a representative Art Nouveau villa of the early 20th century. The villa on a square ground plan with a high basement and richly decorated Art Nouveau facade is additionally structured by oriels, balconies, terraces and extensions. On the north side there is a mighty double gable tower with gallery and roof lantern, which towers over the entire building.
The historical room layout and interior architecture has been largely preserved. The entrance on the west side is preceded by a portico. A staircase leads to a small reception room, behind which is a remarkable paneled entrance hall with a fireplace, leaded glass window, and grand staircase with gallery.
Petershain Castle is a private property that can be "visited" only from public ways (2010).
The old manor house in Petershain was a simple classicist building. The building was located in the center of the village west of the New Castle and was demolished many years ago due to its poor structural condition.
