Manor in Obiszówek
Obiszówek 41, Obiszów
Famous Mansions in Silesia, Poland: Obiszówek
Obiszów or the settlement Obiszówek is located a few kilometers south of Głogów (Glogau). The manor house there is a simple classicist building with a massive two-storey central part and historicist over-formations. On the courtyard side there is a portico with a representative driveway.
The place is known as the later residence of Wilhelm of Prussia, landowner and eldest son of the Prussian Crown Prince Friedrich Wilhelm of Prussia (1882-1951). He lived here from 1935 before leaving Klein Obisch in 1940 to take part in the French campaign as a first lieutenant, during which he died as a result of the war. He left behind his wife and two daughters on the Klein Obisch estate.
In the manor house after 1945, among other things, apartments were established, and until the mid-2000s, several parties lived in the house. Currently, it is in need of renovation and is vacant due to its poor structural condition. However, a comprehensive reconstruction is planned (2021).
