Castle in Chokier
Château de Chokier, Chokier
Château de Chokier in Wallonia is picturesquely situated on a rocky spur west of Liège. At this strategically important location above the Meuse River, a fortified castle of the Counts of Hozémont was built as early as the 13th century. In the last decades, the castle was permanently used as a private residence under changing owners. On the night of March 27, 2017, a major fire occurred, which significantly destroyed parts of the castle, but according to final investigations did not endanger the statics. The destroyed wings are being rebuilt in slow stages. Work will also continue in 2022.
